Branding History
In order to fully grasp the concept of branding it’s important to know the human history of branding. It tells a lot about the human psyche about why we humans felt the need for branding. What’s the basic and simple reason for doing branding? So, the word branding comes from marking animals like horses with hot iron in order to identify their origin, family, owner etc in a herd. It is thought to be invented by Egyptians around 1500 to 2000 BC.
“The simple reason behind branding an animal was to identify an animal in a herd.“
Branding In Simple Words
In other words, a market is a herd of horses and branding sets apart a company by giving it a mark, a name, identification and a unique persona to make it easy to stand out in a herd. That is exactly what we do when we design a brand. We take the same approach to enhance the unique Identity and qualities of each product, service and touch point of our brand.
We as human beings all are unique in whatever we do. Our way of serving, producing, marketing, selling and customer care all have similarities and differences. It’s the differences at each touch point where there is a room for branding at each touch. It’s a way to provide better where others don’t or can’t.
“To make it even simpler, branding is shining and promoting unique positive qualities of products and services”
